But one day, a new transfer student arrived.
His name was Kunio — a true hot-blooded tough guy by nature.
Despite his intimidating appearance, he had a kind heart and absolutely hated seeing the weak being picked on.
Before long, he and Hiroshi became close friends.

However, one day Hiroshi was kidnapped by unknown assailants.
Kunio immediately rose to his feet, determined to rescue his friend.

Kunio leads the Nekketsu High School dodgeball team.
Relying on their fiery spirit and unbreakable grit, they train hard every single day.
Their goal: to become the number-one dodgeball team in the world!!

This story takes place a few months after the events of Nekketsu Kōha Kunio-kun.
Reihō Academy, a school previously unknown to most, suddenly rises to power when the transfer students Ryuichi and Ryuji—the Double Dragon brothers—take control of several nearby high schools within just a few months.
Rumors of their domination quickly spread, and the brothers become feared throughout the region.

Even Riki, the boss of Hanazono High and Kunio’s eternal rival, hears the rumors.
But due to his carefree personality, he simply shrugs them off, saying,
“Twin brothers? Nothing to be scared of!”

One day, however, Riki’s girlfriend, Mami Shimada, is abducted by students from Reihō Academy.
A letter of challenge is then delivered to him…
Burning with anger, Riki rushes out the school gate—only to unexpectedly run into someone shocking.

Kunio, his greatest rival.
And with their reunion, this story begins.

Hello! I’m Misako, manager of the Nekketsu High School soccer club.
Actually… during our special training camp for the national tournament, every single soccer club member came down with food poisoning.
So I came up with an idea: have the dodgeball club enter as substitutes!
That’s why this is the Dodgeball Club Soccer Edition.
And honestly… they’re super fired up about it! ♥

To atone for the misdeeds of former student council president Yamada, the Reihō Academy student council proposed holding a sports festival with the other schools.
All planning and event details were entrusted to the new student council president, Mamoru Tōdō.

However, instead of apologizing, Tōdō secretly intended to crush every school except Reihō.
As a result, the events he designed were unbelievably extreme, and the Reihō team was filled with incredibly powerful members.
Everyone assumed that no sane person would ever participate in such a sports festival.

But there were three groups who entered without hesitation:
Kunio’s Nekketsu High School team,
Riki’s Hanazono High School team,
and the coalition team assembled by Gōda.

And so, the outrageous sports festival created by Tōdō was set to be held with these four teams.

The story takes place in the Edo period…
Bunzō (Gōda), once known as the great boss of the highways, had begun to lose his former strength.
His good-natured personality, combined with the recent wave of misdeeds committed by the rival Torazō (Kumada) clan, left him weakened — and to make matters worse, he fell ill with a widespread epidemic.
Sensing an opportunity, the Torazō clan ran wild with wrongdoing!!

At that moment, a wandering man named Kunimasa (Kunio) appeared!
In gratitude for lodging and a meal, he rushed to Bunzō’s home — only to discover that Bunzō’s daughter, Okoto, had an annoyingly suave fiancé!

But then, a mysterious duo suddenly appeared and kidnapped Okoto!
To find the abducted girl and save the clan from danger, Kunimasa set off on a journey with his loyal companion Tsurumatsu (Sonokawa)…
Thus began their battle-filled adventure.

Hello! I’m Kaori from the Nekketsu High School Newspaper.
Thanks to Kunio’s incredible performances, the Nekketsu dodgeball team — and even the soccer team — have become famous almost overnight.
They’re even competing in world tournaments now. Isn’t that amazing?

But actually… Nekketsu High also has a hockey team.
And, well… they’re really weak.
If they lose their upcoming match against Shirogane High, the club will be shut down — a huge crisis!
Feeling sorry for them, Kunio has decided to whip these hopeless players into shape.

Will the Nekketsu High hockey team become as strong as the dodgeball and soccer teams?

Go for it, Nekketsu hockey team!
Aim for the national inter-high tournament — you can do it!

Tōdō’s plan to use the sports festival to crush the other schools ended in failure.
He hadn’t accounted for the overwhelming strength of the participating students.
Tōdō himself wasn’t particularly frustrated — but because he hated failing, he began plotting once more, determined to achieve a perfect success this time.

“Hmm… but even if I use all of my savings, it won’t be enough to carry out this plan… mmgh,”
Tōdō muttered, before resorting to a tearful-pleading strategy on his father, Kōnosuke…

“Kunio heads to Osaka at last!?”

Set in the bustling city of Osaka during a school trip, Kunio and his friends find themselves caught up in a dark and ominous conspiracy.
Unlike the River City series, this title features realistically proportioned characters and delivers a full-fledged street-fighting adventure.
Explore Osaka freely—brawling with thugs who pick a fight, buying drinks from vending machines, riding trains to travel across the city—immersing yourself in a highly realistic world.

We grant you the right to participate — and at the same time, the right to forfeit.
We have no use for cowards who run away!
Only truly strong men may take part in this battle.
We expect great courage and fighting spirit from you.
— Gakokai”

Enraged by the arrogant tone of the letter, Kunio immediately set out for the tournament venue.
A letter with the exact same message had also been delivered to you.

“You have been chosen as the representative of your town.
Since you’ve been chosen, get to the arena and take down every fierce fighter waiting for you!!”

But when he got there, it wasn’t just Johnny waiting for him…
Riki and Godai were there too, and in Riki’s hand was an application form for a Street Basketball Tournament!

On a quiet, rainy night, a parent and child were hurrying home.
Just as they stepped into a crosswalk, a motorcycle burst out of the darkness.
In an instant, it struck them down — the umbrella flew into the air, the father collapsed onto the ground, and the stunned girl could only stare, unable to comprehend what had happened.
But in that fleeting moment… she saw the rider’s face.

And the face she saw was — Kunio and Riki.
